Granted I have never seen a Fast & Furious movie...but good god. Is that what they are all like? Or has it just be a steady ramp-up of preposterous action?

From 4 on they become increasingly ridiculous but great heist movies. I'm definitely in the minority who like 1-3 more but my friend group has the entirety of the first movie memorized and we were there for racing modified imports with their dumb underlights and all the extremely silly "danger to manifold" type pseudo engineering. That's probably why my favorite one is Tokyo Drift (3) which is the one everyone else hates because it doesn't have Walker or Diesel in it.

4 and onword they pretty much abandon racing entirely, I quit the franchise for years when during 5 they actually do race to win a car they need for a heist but they don't show any of the race, they just cut to Paul Walker pulling into the garage with the car to talk about how they're going to disarm a safe or some shit. It took me years to appreciate them for what they are (it was actually the Giant Bomb film and 40s they did on the entire series).

Basically if you can deal with the civics and supras in 1-3 which are even sillier now than they were in 2000, you will eventually get to The Rock riding around in humvees with rocket launchers and launching custom made cars off of trains and destroying entire cities with the power of Vin Diesel's muscle cars.
  • Shang-Chi looks like ... a pretty badass martial arts movies. Marvel - hey maybe they know what they're doing!

To be honest, anything that Anya Taylor-Joy does at this point has my attention but even if she weren't in it this looks like it's got serious potential.

Yea the cast is loaded. Plus they got Chloe Zhao to direct so I'm certainly watching it. Seems like it's going to have unique and interesting visuals.

And the Stark brothers back on screen together!

Oooh this is going to be a hard watch but I’ll do it. Like Chris Cornell that one hit me hard ....Cornell being just the sweetest, amazing damn human being ever by everyone’s account.  Like almost Fred Rogers level, and a great “Girl Dad”, only to be taken down by suicide because of anti-depression medications being off. Bourdain hit me hard because, aside from his “take no bullshit” affability, his life and job seemed to me like a dreaaaaam! Get to travel all over the world and meet cool people and eat amazing food and drink.  Get to sit on plastic stools in some dive market in South East Asia and drink beers with Obama? Who gets to do that? Man I miss Bourdain.

Reminiscence trailer. This is in the Bald Move wheelhouse - written and directed by Lisa Joy, Jonathan Nolan is a producer. Looks very Nolan-y and Westworld-y.

Black Widow will be available to watch on Disney+ the same day as the theatrical release (for a fee).  Hopefully they will do the same for the other Marvel movies this year, at least.

From what I heard about Truffle farmers this is probably based on a true story…

First trailer for The Many Saints of Newark dropped. Lol at the "A Sopranos Story" branding, what are we gonna get the extended Sopranos cinematic universe. I laugh but I'd 100% watch the adventures of young Paulie Walnuts.

But I did get chills hearing Jim Gandolfini in the voice over. I thought his son was good in the Deuce, excited to see if he can carry a whole movie as young Tony. And Vera Farmiga does look perfect as Livia.

I want to be excited for this, but that trailer could just be a generic mob movie. I trust all involved to bring some nuance to the thing, it just doesn't showcase what made the show special.  I also know that a slow meditation on psychology, violence, trauma, and family doesn't make for a good trailer. I am pumped regardless.
