I like me meat inspected, and bridges, and coal mines . . .
I don't see where it says a regulation was rolled back, it seemed as though this bill was about shifting an evidence standard for administrative compliance efforts with the DEA.
It hardly seems to be as big a deal as the media is making it out to be. Of course If you ask the DEA if the DEA needs more power they'll say "of course we do" and justify it with "well think about the children"
when you read the article it boils down to, the industry believed they were being treated unfairly by DEA, went through the legal channels, and congress passed a bill clarifying the legal standard for seizure of private property
I don't know what bridges and coal mines have to do with this topic
He waited 12 days to make that call...he had 12 days to think about what he was going to say and that's what he came up with.
Could he have said it better? Yes. But I am going to wait to see the whole transcript of the conversation or hear it because most of this is coming second hand from a congressional rep who wants him impeached. He has already denied it and says he has proof so why not wait til that proof is released and then judge?
The man's wife hasn't come out and slammed him (at least from what I read in USA Today this morning) so it's a real possibility this congresswoman is lying
Maybe it's time for another shakeup at FBI. They can't finish the BS Russia probe in less then a year but found Hillary innocent before interviewing anyone

I guess the proof is in a bunker with the Comey tapes right? Yea that "proof" is never seeing the light of day ... because Trump is a serial liar.

It’s another sideshow. Probably to distract from the fallout from stopping the CSRs for the ACA, and then his rapid flip-flopping on the bipartisan negotiations to continue them.
I mean he didn’t need to respond to the criticism of calling soldier’s families in a perceived-to-be timely fashion. Not all presidents call all families in all scenarios and there is no magic time limit. He can’t resist the controversy though so you get him claiming that other Presidents didn’t call at all (false), that he has called all families of those who died in his young administration (false), and then this condescending conversation that was witnessed that he is claiming to be false and that he can prove is false (doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt as he also had scandalous evidence on Obama’s birth certificate that he never produced, Obama’s wire tapping Trump Tower that he never produced, winning the popular vote that he never produced, etc.) which has lead to investigative reporting revealing this odd $25k promise that wasn’t kept until exposed (and which is too big of a gift to avoid a federal tax incidentally, which I’m sure we’ll see on his tax returns...) >3mos later, etc.
I mean the initial criticism wasn’t really legit, but now all of these legit issues come up because he made it such an issue and can’t keep from lying and exaggerating. The dude is either pathological, or he’s a genius at keeping this sideshow going to distract his base from the real policy contradictions and inconsistencies vs what he promised, and ultimately to keep them from holding him responsible for his decisions which are affecting them negatively.

The link that was shared was from the soldier's mom, not the wife. Again, if there is actually evidence aside from a he said she said then I'm game to hear it. Reports are that several staffers, including the Chief of Staff was in the room and since he was in the military I have a feeling he would pretty pissed if the President did disrespect the dead soldier.
since you didn't read what I wrote, I said if there was evidence I would revisit it. It has nothing to do with defending him and everything to do with the media and a liberal congresswoman trying to paint the guy as hostile towards the military with heresay. I have a feeling he has more compassion for the military and cops more than Obama.
I actuallu don't like Trump but I have told people that it would be nice if people would lay off all the bullshit stories that don't effect how the country is run. Same thing I said when Obama was president and conservatives I knew were always talking about the birther shit and him not being an American. Had nothing to do with how he ran the country.
I didn't like Obama either but I didn't want him to fail since that we would mean we fail as a country. I don't see many liberals taking that stance with Trump. They all shout how he is a racist, a bigot, a homophobe, a misogynist and they hope he is impeached and that he never a gets any legislation passed, and they don't want democrats to make any deal with him at all. How bout we actually try to work together and compromise (I know...shock!), then let the voters determine whether or not they want to keep him in 2020.
What seems more likely to you, a vindictive Congresswoman approached a grieving family and proposed a plot to use their loss to attack the President, and they agreed to go along with it or someone with a history of saying stupid things said something stupid?

I mean she was actually in the car with them when the President made the call, which is obviously not some left wing conspiracy to slander Trump. His mother, who was also present, supported the version of the conversation related by the Congresswoman, and most relevantly the unthoughtful choice of words is completely consistent with Trump’s past behavior.
He lost the benefit of the doubt the day after inaguration with the whole crowd-size thing, but keeps claiming victimhood for not having it despite losing it then and again and again afterward.
His sentiment, though horribly and hurtfully phrased, is not in and of itself wrong: folks who sign up for special ops know that they can lose their lives. It’s just that he can’t admit fault with phrasing and has to counter-punch and claim all that criticize him are liars and then double-down with lies to support the counter-punch when called on it that is kind of embarrassing. The frequency and blatantly of his lies are pretty unprecedented and it’s disturbing to me. I don’t care what your ideology is, you can’t like having and inconsistent liar like this as your de facto spokesperson (not saying the other politicians don’t lie, but you don’t typically get >2/week out of them, more like 2/yr which is a YUGE difference).

So the actual widow herself, who has nothing to gain by confirming that Trump disrespected her and said that, isn't enough evidence? The good thing is that the mainstream media and the military disagree with you. Republicans, especially Republicans veterans, are coming-out in disgust by this. I think the best quote was by a Republican who was a Bush adviser that mentioned Trump has time to tweet all day and night the most immature, insulting, awful things about the pettiest of issues, yet he takes almost two weeks to simply call and insult a fallen service member....and you still defend it haha.

Ok so you didn't read again but the article and what I wrote said it was his mother, not the widow. And the congresswoman who brought this up, who claimed she wasn't trying to use it for a political advantage, is now doing interview after interview about it. The mother is grieving and from what I am seeing neither her nor the congresswoman heard the entire call. If he said those exact words then he could have done better, but no one knows the rest of the convo or what he said to the woman.
What seems more likely to you, a vindictive Congresswoman approached a grieving family and proposed a plot to use their loss to attack the President, and they agreed to go along with it or someone with a history of saying stupid things said something stupid?
In this climate, neither is an outrageous suggestion.
Especially since the words allegedly said ("he knew what he signed up for") have two entirely different meanings depending upon the context
that being said though, Time had an article about how he's treated other gold star families, we know how he treated the victims of the Vegas shooting when he visited, in both cases very respectfully, so it would be out of character to have been just outright dissmissive of a slain veteran as the congresswoman has tried to portray.
Because any story involving misconduct by democrats is completely false. There was no election fraud in 2004 WA governors race, Fast and Furious was a hoax, Hillary broke no laws by keeping government emails on a private server to circumvent records retention laws, everything negative involving democrats is a total hoax with no substance. get with the program....
like there's a reason the media would rather cover an argument over Trumps call to a widow then a fairly good circumstantial case the FBI at best mishandled, more likely actively covered up, wrongdoing by the state department

I identify more as a Democrat now than a Republican, but you aren't wrong. I think Republicans shot themselves in the foot though by going crazy about Obama's birth certificate or claiming Hillary killed people in Benghazi. It is like the boy who cried wolf, people just don't believe it entirely now.
The problem now is every time Trump, or a Republican, does something wrong, the argument is always "but Obama did it" or "who cares, Democrats have been doing that forever." It is a perpetual cycle of blaming others rather than just acknowledging what is going on right now is fucked up and so was whoever was doing it before too.
Leaving aside the response with the families of the deceased, everything about this whole Niger mission itself is starting to stink. McCain & Graham are not happy with how things are being handled with the investigation:

Just from what I've read about the Niger story, it looks like it's going to be really bad. They weren't traveling in armored vehicles and the (mercenary, not US Military) team that rescued them left Johnson behind because they didn't do a headcount.
Niger definitely isn't Trump's Benghazi. Benghazi was an incredible failure of the State Department and US government in general. Niger is a typical joint training mission. We are literally doing the same missions that are on-going in Niger that we are doing in 100 other countries.
The armored vehicles thing isn't a big deal, because are we expected to purchase them for every host nation? No. I regularly drove around in non-armored humvees and Hiluxes because they were faster, easier to get in/out of, and were mechanically more reliable than armored vehicles.
The "mercenary" (which is a totally ignorant thing to call them) pilots aren't in charge of doing a head count. The Green Berets were. So if the Green Berets gave the pilots a thumbs up then the pilots will take off. That is how it works.
This shit is fucking ridiculous. They are costumes for god's sake. They are for people to dress up, have fun, eat candy and/or get drunk.
You just keep trying, but nobody’s biting.
Fine by me because free speech is a bitch and I'll keep using it to point out when dumb shit happens like having a meeting to go over Halloween costumes to make sure students don't offend snowflakes on campus.
