It’s always been my estimation that people who go around calling other people easily triggered snowflakes are actually themselves easily triggered snowflakes, but hey that’s just my opinion as an expression of free speech.

The ironic thing is if you go to the right-wing quasi-news sites, the articles are written specifically to generate outrage...issues are framed a certain way, certain details are omitted or misrepresented etc all designed to piss off the readers and make them think that there's some kind of extremism out there leaving them with a false sense of reality. They feed themselves all day long with "news" meant to trigger them, get triggered and blow off steam complaining about triggered snowflakes who can't handle the real world. It would be funny if millions of people weren't falling for it.
To be fair there’s a non-insignificant number of liberals who also do this. Truly this is also the era of false outrage. I’d probably have a lot more to say about the mainstream Democratic Party if the GOP weren’t the party currently fucking things up the most.

The Democratic Party is a mess...no leaders, in complete denial of their situation, out of touch with what's going on and take every possibly opportunity to shoot themselves in the foot.
Speaking of this "he knew what he signed up for." When I look at how Trumps reacts and says things at this point, I am concluding he has very, very low emotional IQ. It's the little stuff, like when he's in Peutro Rico and says, hey guys, sorry about the hurricane and everything but you're kinda messing up our budget. There is something about it that doesn't just feel like him just being a bastard, but lacking the emotional intelligence to ya know, "read the room."

Years ago when I was in college, I saw a lecture by a guy named Bob Hare, he's a criminal psychologist who specializes in psychopaths. He wrote the test (PCL-Revised) that is used to legally determine if someone is a psychopath or not. Part of his lecture was about while psychopathy is associated with criminality, most psychopaths aren't criminals and can be very successful people. He pointed to studies that showed psychopathy is present in about 1% of the population, it's much more prominent in certain occupations - politicians, surgeons and business leaders among others. After the lecture, there was a Q&A and people asked a lot of questions on that point and he was asked to name someone who in his estimation could be a psychopath. He gave a preamble about how you can't diagnose someone without interviewing them etc. but the first name that he said was Donald Trump. In Hare's mind, Trump displayed all of the characteristics of a psychopath - the lack of empathy, the emotional bluntness, lack of remorse, lack of behavioural restraint, impulse control etc

Did he have a book out a few years ago? I feel like I heard him interviewed a lot on NPR and such. At least someone with a book making statements like this- Not necessarily about Trump, but about psychopaths.
He has books, but I think that you're probably thinking of Jon Ronson who wrote a book mostly based on Hare's work called "The Psychopath Test" (there was a whole episode of 'This American Life' dedicated to it - maybe that's the NPR connection you're thinking of?) or maybe more recently Kevin Dutton (Oxford PHD!) 'The Wisdom of Psychopaths'. Those are the two criminology books related to psychopathy that I can think of that sort of broke through and became mainstream reads.
Honest question for you @Dee has Australia succumbed to this type of bullshit as well or is there still some common sense in my second home?
I don’t think that word means what you think it means.
Ah ok, so please tell me what common sense means. I'm guessing it will be some Labor Party, Julia Gillardesque radical feminist view of the world where everyone must love one another, never offend anyone no matter what and white Australian males are to blame for all the country's woes?

Typical white man...can't take responsibility for anything, always blaming others while playing the victim

I don't have to take responsibility for anything because I haven't done anything. Question, are you white?

And since you're a Canuck you obviously don't have any reason to be here other than to support your own country's liberal, hippy dippy view point of how my country should work. Try and stick to hockey and having an inferiority complex because Canada always plays second fiddle to America.

If he is gonna make comments about me being a typical white guy it would be pretty hypocritical if he is also white...so yep it's relevant
Done with this for a while since this thread has just turned into the liberal, pat ourselves on the back society.
Yeah, those people who, like, care about other people and their feelings and shit. What’s that even about.
Mate, you know this place is about 90% Liberal, you continually try to rile up “snowflakes” with your outraged PC GONE MAD bullshit Daily Wire stories, and then you get pissy when no one wants to play. If you ever wanted to have an actual, reasonable debate about an issue that isn’t just “Look at these bleeding heart pussies doing shit”, you’d probably have a bunch of people wanting to discuss it with you.

White, heterosexual, middle-ish aged, grew up working class, found my way to middle class...and managed to do it all without ever resenting anyone.
Question, do you have a sense of humour? The is generally accepted as an indication of a joke and/or playful comment and not a savage attack on your personhood.
And since you're a Canuck you obviously don't have any reason to be here other than to support your own country's liberal, hippy dippy view point of how my country should work. Try and stick to hockey and having an inferiority complex because Canada always plays second fiddle to America.
What happens in America effects us greatly here. To paraphrase Pierre Eliot Trudeau, living next to America is like sleeping with an elephant...no matter now friendly it is, we still feel every twitch and grunt.
And saying comments like "typical white man" just makes you come off as a racist...keep it classy buddy
Racist against white people...right. As I said, always the victim. Sorry for triggering you <-- please note the indication of that being a joke!
Also, asking me to keep it classy right after stereotyping, dismissing and insulting my country is a bit rich <-- please note the lack of a smiley face, I'm not joking.

There seems to be a lot more tension and anger coming from the right than you would expect from a party who controls the entire federal government. You'd think they'd be directing all that anger towards Congress and 45, who haven't been able to deliver many legislative wins for them. Why are they so obsessed with liberals? Could it be that conservatism as a principle has become nothing more than "whatever makes liberals cry?"
edit: to be clear, this is about the culture in general and not directed at anyone in particular here. Most of our conservative friends on the forum don't display the level of anger I'm talking about.

I think part of the problem is that a lot of this stuff isn't coming from conservatives in the traditional sense. Trump lit a fire under a lot of marginalized people, so to some degree there's an influx of new right-wing voices - people who have been politically ignored for decades have suddenly been empowered. So I think what we're dealing with is an energetic die-hard group of Trump supporters (who I think are loyal to him, more than being Republicans) acting without restraint coupled with a small minority of more traditional conservatives who feel like their particular brand of Republicanism has been on the outside looking in.
But wouldn't that make them more likely to criticize traditional Republicans over liberals? Presumably they wouldn't have the "we don't criticize our own" instinct.
