  • My dad (72) got his first shot this week! He's by far the person with the greatest health risk in my little circle so it's incredibly stress reducing that he'll soon be protected.

That’s great!  It’s such a relief to know your parents will be vaccinated.  My dad got his second shot last week and my mom has had her first shot so far.  Whew.
  • Well I caught it. Was pretty careful with masks and hand washing and not going to places not needed. So far no symptoms though. Only found out because my cousin who I saw tested positive.

My company went over a year without a single positive amongst staff or clients. Got our first one last week, and now I'm waiting on two more test results. It is stressful to say the least. The good news is all three employees are under 25 with no preexisting conditions, and the one who is confirmed positive has had mild symptoms. The bad news is our clients are all high risk, and one of the employees has four of them.

damn, @Hatorian hope you get through this with minor or no symptoms. as @dee said, take care of yourself. also hope your fam is doing well as well.

@Freddy - waiting on two more tests for other employees or you? regardless, try not to stress (i know easier said than done), sending good vibes your way bud.

@Chinaski Employees. I'm good, and am heading back for my second dose of Pfizer at the end of the month.

  • I was actually impressed by the testing and response. I booked a rapid test online at a cvs nearby. Went there and waited 10 minutes Until the they called me in Amdahl I did my test. They called me back in an hour and said I was positive. Didn’t have to pay for anything. Yesterday they called and did some good contact tracing and stuff as well. Not too bad.

@Hatorian They just do them at the chemist there? Do they have all the PPE and keep regular shoppers separate from people getting tested? We don’t even have GPs doing it here - you have to go to a specific testing site that are set up in various places.

they have these little sheds built next to the pharmacies that are heated. Maybe not the best place to go if your negative because the nurse doesn’t really touch the patient side so anyone who has it and touches stuff could leave it.

I was able to find a location within 10 minutes of me and had slots available for rapid testing for 3 hours and I just took one of those slots.
  • Sorry to hear that @Hatorian - wishing the best for you and the family.

  • Thanks everyone. Day 5 now and still nothing. Just glad I’m not out spreading this around without knowing.

@Hatorian hope you pull out of this okay, buddy.

  • I've been tested a few times at CVS in GA.  It was all drive through.  They sanitized the pharmacy slide out box, put the kit in, walked you through how to take the swab over the intercom, how to properly sanitize the container, and the bag.  Then said to sanitize the dropoff box before and after putting the kit inside.  It was simple, but slow going.  There were 4 cars in front of me on the first visit and it took over an hour.  Mine took 10-15 minutes.

@Hatorian, if you are still symptom free at this point, I would imagine you can probably not stress over it too much.  Just stay isolated to keep from spreading.  You got this!

Still nothing. Pretty sure there won’t be anything at this point. Now just have to hope there isn’t a weird long term shit that pops up.

Got my second dose yesterday.  Who knows what threat will get me now.

FYI - Moderna 2nd dose can give you about 24 hours of body/head aches.  Getting better right now.

My 88 year old mom lives in NY and I’m out here in California trying every day to get her an appointment for her first vaccine.  It’s been beyond frustrating. And today I hear a story about Olympic athletes getting vaccinated so we can have the summer games. Seriously? Jumping the line for fucking sports? Now I’m just pissed.

    End rant.

Well, I still love my state and most of my community. Despite Governor Greg "Death Cult" Abbott deciding to lift the mask order and open everything up 100%, pretty much every business I know has said "Nah dawg, we're gonna listen to the CDC, health officials, doctors, nurses, and pretty everyone else who isn't an unreasonable psycho. Masks and distancing still required. Fuck you for trying to win over the Trumpers for your upcoming election."

The level of glee a certain brand of liberals have over red states inflicting misery on their people is really, really gross. Actual people live in these places and there are a lot of forgotten and marginalized people who don't "deserve" this. Never do this:

    Olbermann has always been trash.

I will say, though, one can simultaneously recognize the schadenfreude of republican voters getting exactly what they voted for and realize that 1/3 to 1/2 the voters in those states didn't vote for this and that just being a stupid voter doesn't mean you deserve to die.

Also, it's clear that GOP leadership doesn't care because they aren't killing their voters - this stuff always falls on minorities and the working poor the most, and most of that group don't vote republican.
