@Hatorian It’s not the other states fighting - ever since this all started NSW government has taken pot shots at other states for closing borders or having hard lockdowns, especially towards Victoria. Now they are out of control because of their own inaction and they want everyone else to give up the few vaccinations we have for them? Fuck that. Gladys and that personality vacuum Hazzard shat in their own beds and they can lie in them.

I do feel bad for all the people there who are trying to do the right thing and seeing this getting dragged out because of their inept government and the dickheads who won’t stay in their own bloody houses.

So when Brisbane burns from its own climate inaction NSW should just let it burn? Not cool. Sydney needs help.

@Hatorian There’s a huge difference between going somewhere else to fight fires while your state doesn’t need your firefighters, and expecting other states to go without vaccines so you can get more of them. This is not at all comparable.

Just had my second jab this morning. Now I’m just lying on the couch watching my stories and waiting for the side effects to kick in.

Our county has mandated masks indoors once again. How disgusted am I with Americans refusing to vaccinate? I told a good friend that her boyfriend who refuses to vaccinate is an asshole. By the time this is over my friend count will be -1.

@Teresa from Concord The pandemic has made me hate pretty much every person I work with, after having to listen to over a year of them moan nonstop about how inconvenient everything is, not social distancing, not wearing masks when they’re meant to (which has actually been pretty rarely where I am until a couple of weeks ago), etc. Pack of selfish c-words. And of course they almost all have said they will not vax - as far as I’m aware, only three of us have so far out of a team of 20+.

By watching my stories, are you speaking of 'soaps' (Australian of course)?

    Days of Our Lives forever!!!!!!!!!

@tom_g Generally when I say I’m watching my stories I just mean I’m watching a large chunk of TV, but as it happens, this evening I discovered one of our streaming channels has every episode of a short lived, entertainingly terrible 90s Aussie soapie, so yes, that’s what I’ve been doing.

Yeah, we are back to wearing masks here in our county. Not as small as Humboldt County, but still not a major one in Northern CA. I can't say I am surprised that we are back here, unfortunately.

Our mask mandate starts again on Saturday.  Of course we have the idiots fighting back against it already.

    @Dee yep, exactly.
  • My county in Massachusetts just hit the threshold today where the CDC starts recommending masks indoors. And we were one of the success stories with a vaccination rate pushing 75%. These selfish idiots are literally killing people. Imagine being in some poor country where you  can't get a vaccine and seeing Americans too dumb or lazy to walk to the nearest drug store and get it for free.
    Michelle
  • It sucks. And people who are not getting them because of conspiracy theories really need help.

But I believe in women’s body rights. I believe in people’s right to drink, smoke, eat their bodies to death. So unfortunately I have to allow people the right to reject something going into their body. I do actually understand the argument of waiting until it has full FDA approval as well.

Once again, not smart. But I’m not a hypocrite on someone’s choices regarding their own body.
  • I agree people have a right to refuse a vaccine, as irrational as that choice is given the science on hand (excepting people with a medical reason not to get it), but if they refuse to be vaccinated they are giving up their ability to move freely in society.  The public has a right to set guidelines for participation and anti-vaccine people are making themselves an unnecessary risk to others, it is not a choice with impacts on just that individual.  The anti-vaccine people want all the benefits of being a member of society, but none of the responsibilities.

  • Agree. If a business wants to make vaccines mandatory to sit in their restaurant then so be it. I think they should have that right.

Well there it is. Back to the most severe level in Harris County. Shout out to all the anti-lockdowners whose profound and breathtaking obtuseness ironically contributed to more lockdowns, and longer, more costly lockdowns. Shout out to the anti-hand sani/ anti-buttwashers, the Covid-hoaxers, the anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers.

  • Pfizer full FDA approval is expected within the next 2 weeks.  Prepare to see those goalposts being moved!

I also think we will see some noticeable uptick in vaccinations in the US after the full FDA approval.

With some states instituting $100 payments to those getting newly vaccinated, we've seen some uptick.  We've also seen an uptick due to states instituting "mandates" requiring vaccination to participate in businesses.

I think we'll see the largest uptick if the FAA requires them for airline travel.  I'm hoping that happens soon.

  • Regardless, full approval will definitely help. If only half the people who said they are waiting for it actually get it, that would be huge.
  • Also federal government has never mandated a vaccine before.

Think you might be waiting awhile on that FAA mandate.

The answers aren’t with the government. If the government forces people it will just create new conspiracy theories and jackasses who “fight the power”

I wish I knew the real way. Probably a combination of businesses denying service, family getting sick, etc.

If Fox News starts saying and repeating “get the vaccine” we would see an uptick. Even better - the former Prez needs to brag about it. After all he is taking credit for the vaccine.

    Dare to dream.

Man. This will make me unpopular but I have to say it. With the recent news that boosters are almost definitely going to be required at what point do we stop ignoring the pharmaceutical industries absolutely abhorrent past with abuse. Did we just all of a sudden forget they are responsible for the opioid crisis? They’ve killed 5x more lives from pain medication THEY KNEW WAS ADDICTIVE BEFORE IT WAS EVEN APPROVED.

Now that that gravy train is over and every major Pharma wipes their hands clean they all of a sudden are in our best interest? Like pushing a new flu vaccine isn’t about bottom lines…

I’m shouting to myself. Most of you probably don’t like me. But im tired of being bullied into beliefs I don’t believe.

EDIT: I don’t hate or wish any ill will towards 99.9% of my fellow Americans. Most of them have been manipulated into believing garbage that only benefits the 1%. They have been targeted through maliciously effective religious and media campaigns.

Our fellow Americans need help. They don’t need us shitting on them and blaming them for the crisis. What we perceive as easy science is not the same to someone indoctrinated with effective intent.

The answer isn’t to sit on our vaccinated thrones throwing shame. Or asking the government to strip freedoms to do so. It is our duty as Americans to inform and help these people.

    Stop making the divide worse.

@Hatorian Well, I *think* I disagree with you but I’m not entirely sure what you’re railing against, though I still like you either way.

  • I am diabetic, type 1 since my teens, the pharmaceutical industry is not my enemy.

I think the people that were behind the research for MRNA had all the right motivation.

Im happy for you and glad that science can help you live a normal life.

My experiences with pharmaceutical companies is much different.

My brother is a opioid addict. My aunt just beat 10 years of a pill addiction.(thanks marijuana!)

3 people from my highschool have ODed on heroin.

Yes, you can say, well they are addicts and made their choices.

You would be wrong. There’s a reason JJ, Purdue Pharma and all of these companies are paying out billions in lawsuits now. They new what they were doing and didn’t care because it was about money.
