Picard - Episode 4: "Absolute Candor" - Podcast Discussion!

  • I heard an interesting theory submitted on another podcast in regards to the Romulans; and I wondered what your take on it might be. What if the Romulans are themselves synthetic creations on the Vulcans who have forgotten over time they are not an organic lifeform.  That is other than the sect the Zatvash or whatever that are protecting the secret from coming out. I heard it being discussed on a couple episodes of Star Trek Discovery Pod.

I don't see how that would really be plausible, would need a lot of retconning to make that work, even more than the current round of 'gritty' star trek has been doing.

I've seen a lot of speculation floating around that the Romulans created the Borg at some point, which is the big 'secret'. I suppose that's more plausible, but still seems a stretch to me. At this point in season 2 of Discovery it seemed like everybody was on the "Section-31 creates the Borg on accident with the Control A.I." train, complete with the 'resistance is futile' drop from the guy who got 'assimilated' by the nono-whatevers.

Maybe that wasn't the intention on Discovery (as the writers have claimed), but it got so much buzz that they decided to do a Borg origin for ST:Picard
