  • Heya ARon & Jim!

Why yes there was a TNG and X-Men crossover. When I was a kid, I read so many TNG and DS9 paperbacks but I couldn’t bring myself to read this one because I thought it was weird. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planet_X_(Star_Trek)

Any Trek novel written by Peter David is definitely worth any Trekkie’s time.
  • My love for Jean-Luc cannot be understated.  However, I'm a tad underwhelmed with ST Picard.  I don't need everything in ST to make sense--I watch as much for the entertainment value as for the exploration of the human condition.  But it really kills my buzz the way that Dr. Jurati just waltzes into this crew under very suspicious circumstances.  If stakes are so high then you'd think Picard would be more cautious after all he's been through in his life and career.  I just don't buy it. Ugh.

According to the Star Trek crossover Wikipedia page, Trek has crossed over with many franchises. In addition to the X-Men novel and two X-Men comics (one TOS and one TNG), they have had crossovers with DC's Legion of Superheros, Green Lantern, Doctor Who, Planet of the Apes, and the Alien franchise. I think I subscribed to Star Trek: Communicator when the TOS/X-Men crossover was happening because I remember seeing an article about it. Never read the comics or book, though.
  • I just assumed this was the sort of Facer they were going for....

What's the TNG episode that has "Captain Picard Day"?  Picard gets stuck in the turbolift alone with the kids.

Isn't that the same episode that parts of the ship are cut off from each other, and Troi, who holds the rank of Lt., is forced to take command as the highest-ranking officer on the Bridge?  She struggles, but of course, does a good job.

A couple of seasons later if when she takes the test and gains the rank of Commander, even mentioning her time in command of the Bridge as part of the reason why she wants to take the test now.

So didn't she always hold a Starfleet rank?
  • She has the Lieutenant Commander pips in the pilot and then later when Jellico makes her wear the standard uniform. So there's some type of specialist rank, at least. Though the show was never consistent on how exactly that worked. Data was second officer, but the reason Troi is inspired to take the command test is because Crusher holds the commander rank and sometimes commands the night shift? You might assume Data would still outrank her in the chain of command, but at the end of the episode, Troi outranks him because she passed the test? *shrug*
