Also, I love eating oranges/mandarins but HATE that my thumb fingernails get gunked up with orange crud. I'd like to invent plastic thumb covers that solve this. One that has a tip to slice the outer peel and the other that can help peel off the rind. Kind of like those Halloween witches fingers kids get but for peeling oranges. There may already be a product like this though
My boyfriend is the same. But he cleverly invented an orange peeling tool. It’s called me. I have to start his orange.

It’s nice to be useful.  :D

big spoon? or little spoon?.. when eating foods such as cereal, ice cream or soup?
Small spoon 100%.  I'm assuming a big spoon would be the size you'd use to dish out things like mashed potatoes, etc.?  I don't wanna shovel food into my mouth like that unless mayyyyyyyyyybe Ben & Jerry's brings back their Wavy Gravy ice cream.
  • In addition to little spoon being better for eating with, it's also the better spot when spooning! Big spoon just means my wife's hair gets in my mouth.

  • Did anyone else feel after growing up they were extremely disappointed by the lack of new Bermuda Triangle incidents? I feel like I way over prepared for something that’s never going to happen.

    haha same!

also, growing up in the Bay Area i feared a giant earthquake where the ground was going to open up and swallow everything and everyone. i was 10 when the '89 one happened and while it f'd a lot up, it was no where near what i envisioned it.

My daughters housemate has a cat called Max and they bring him to my house when they have an inspection because they are not allowed pets, and every time the bring him in to my house the first thing I say is, “And you must be Max.”

growing up my mom hung washed clothes on a line all the time. but the more she worked (12-14 hour days as a Mexican laborer), and finally was able to afford a dryer the less she did it.

personally me as an adult, i've never once hung clothes on a line.

  • It’s definitely not normal but you will see it in suburbs with big backyards and lower income high rise residential properties

@Hatorian What a deprived childhood American children had, without a Hills Hoist to swing around on!
  • I know! I only got used to it after time in AU and Asia. Singapore it’s everywhere. No one uses dryers really.

It's the first time this year I've done it, obviously because of winter.  I guess you can do it all year round (assuming the various snakes and spiders allow it)?

Can you just not dry your clothes if it rains for a few days?
  • MichelleMichelle California
I don't have a clothesline, but I do have clothes that are not meant for the dryer so I hang those on a hanger & then from my shower rod.   If I had a clothesline though, I'd totally use it.  My mother and paternal grandmother both used one when I was growing up, and I totally remember the smell of my clothes after they'd been dried in the fresh air from outdoors.  Plus it saves a lot of electrical energy.

Well, most of us do have dryers as well - we just don’t need to use them all that much.
