Around a decade ago, I started using body wash. I noticed the BO would set in much faster than I was used to. Kept with it for a few months to see if it was something my body would get used to. It wasn't. I went back to bar soap.
Oddly enough, a few years after that experiment, I tried the no soap, no shampoo thing. Stuck it out for a year. My body adjusted pretty well to it after 2-3 weeks. (I would still use soap to wash hands and whatnot.) After I year I went back to soap and shampoo because I like the smell of it. Those first few weeks without were pretty awful, so I don't think I'd go back.
Do y’all not use a separate face wash? I’ve had a specific face wash ever since I started getting pimples when I hit puberty. I also have a face scrub that I use once a week, helps with the oily skin on my face.

What in the world is the "no soap, no shampoo thing"?

I use my bodywash on my face but started using a face moisturizer after the shower and my skin improved so much. I haven't had it for a couple months since they stopped selling the one I was using online and most of them are too oily but I feel way worse now.
I do have a face scrub I use separately but definitely not enough. But yeah, it's Dove soap otherwise. And to be fair, I have body soap too. I will mix it up occasionally.
I just steal my wife’s face wash. I was a bar soap guy for the longest but I’d say the past 8-10 years it has been body wash. I like the 3-in-1 or even 5-in-1 body wash combos.

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit scrub. I love how clean and refreshed my face feels after using it.

Kinda sounds like you'd think.... just water. No judgement, but I don't think I could do it. I need to have that clean feeling that body wash on a loofah gives.

Is there some kind of science that suggests we don't need to use soap to get clean? Or is this just eventually you stop smelling yourself

Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser used to be my jam for the loooooongest but sometime a long time ago I “borrowed” my wife’s Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash. I’ve been “borrowing” it ever sense.

You need to invest in that 15-in-1 product. Also used for washing your teeth, pets, dishes, clothes (lights, darks and bedding) and your car’s interior and exterior.

And for no reason at all it can also microwave your pop tarts for you.
I have two face washes in my shower - Queen Helene scrub (currently the oatmeal one but it varies) for when my face feels a bit crusty, and CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser for regular face washing.
In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Basically exactly what it sounds like. I still scrubbed with a loofah, just using water. Your body adjusts to not having the oils removed via soap by producing less oils. I know I've heard Cecily talk about the "no poo" thing before, and her own experiments with it.
Again, those first 2 weeks were awful. I kickstarted the whole thing while I was down with a respiratory illness for 2 weeks so nobody had to be around me while I looked like unholy greasy hell. Once my body adjusted, anytime I would talk about it with friends they were surprised, but would always comment that I didn't smell or look dirty. Some of this could have been politeness, but some of them are the kind of friends who wouldn't hesitate to call me out either.
After the adjustment period, I didn't feel any less clean than I did with soap. I didn't break out more than I did with soap. I wouldn't say I broke out any less either.
I don't think i would run the experiment again because of how rough the adjustment period was. Also, I've always been pretty big on hygiene. I'm the kind of person that has to take daily showers at a minimum. I generally will take a shower before I'll even check the mail. Hell, I'll take a shower before I cut the grass, only to take another shower once I'm done.
That begs another question. What is your shower schedule? Mornings? Nights? Both? Daily? Every 2 days? Every 3?
Speaking of grooming who’s a shaver and who’s au natural???
Are you asking facial? I generally grow the beard out pretty long, but shave the cheeks and the scouts. I keep the mustache and area between the lips and chin trimmed short enough to stay out of my mouth and food. Every few months, I'll trim the whole thing down to under 1/2" and start over. I haven't been clean shaven in over a decade.

Whatever you want to share man! I can’t grow a full beard so I have to shave. I can grow a decent goatee and ok stache but it doesn’t look good without the beard.
