Umbrella Academy

This show seems like an obvious Bald Move. I would love to hear some Podcasts about this show on Netflix from you guys.

They talked about the first season on their TV roundup podcasts if you haven't listened to those yet

  • I'm pretty sure I remember hearing something about coverage for season 2 in the future. I'm pretty sure it'll be the entire season coverage in 1 episode on Off the Clock but I'm good with that. I'm about halfway through and really enjoying this season so far. Their use of music is amazing.
  • Overall it was entertaining, an easy background binge. All twists and character developments including large parts of the dialog are completly predicatable or at least unsurprising though. Another problem for me ist that with unrestricted time travel there aren't really any stakes since anybody can be brought back and history can be rewritten. The look and feel to me seemed like a watered down version of legion which can still be pretty awesome at times. Many of the characters like Hank and Lila and the fishandroid literally looked like younger siblings of legion characters.
The music had some interesting choices and covers, definitely a plus for the series.

I like the cinematography...looks super slick and I really enjoy the soundtrack of both seasons; especially the Swedish version of Adele's "Hello" this season was hilarious.  But I definitely enjoy the story of The Boys more than Umbrella.  Story-wise, Season two just seems more of a repeat of season one

I enjoyed season 2 more than season 1.   It even made me go back and re-watch season 1 after I watched season 2.   I liked the interactions the umbrella academy folks had with each other quite a bit.   Klaus was so much fun to watch.  And Tom Hopper does a lot of subtle (and not so subtle) reactions that were a lot of fun to watch.   I also liked Alison's arch particularly when you contrast it to who she was in season 1.  And the music and cinematography was fun.  Lot's of 60's music.   Plus Kiss and Backstreet Boys for a fight scene?   Yes please.

Do you believe that Alison rumored her husband to fall in love with her? I like to think she did despite her denial which gives her a darker touch.

Don't think so, think she learned her lesson with her first husband and daughter.  She was very adamant about not using her powers at all even towards the end of season 1.

I really can't wait to tuck into this next season.  Just need to close out some other stuff we're binging.  Umbrella Academy was wildly refreshing and fun last year and J&A sounded like they largely enjoyed it too.  Mary J Blige and Cameron Britton as Cha-Cha & Hazel?  Dickon Tarly with huge arms!?  What's not to love?!  And the Klaus character is pure magic.

75% of my excitement about season 2 is to see what Klaus does.

  • I haven't seen this show yet (it's on my list...I'll get to it soon!)....my friend is a producer and recorded an album with one of the kids from the show.  Is this guy a main character?

Her husband from season 1 yes.  On season 1 episode 8 (aptly titled "I heard a rumor") you see Allison driving her car and after her flashbacks of using her powers on her child you see her going over the ways she used her power; "I heard a rumor that I did it in 1 take", "I heard a rumor I'm perfect for the role" and "I heard a rumor that you love me".   Sounds like Allison's life on season 1 was build around her abusing her power.

On season 2 no.   Sounds like she did everything without using her powers (at least before she met her siblings again).  Which made it all the more tragic once she started using her powers again.
  • @CretanBull :  That's awesome!   He's one of the main characters and really good in the show.

Hypothetically speaking....I mean, I'm definitely not talking about this kid....just generally speaking about no one in particular, but sometimes I think that it would be best if actors stuck to acting  :#
