NBA 2021 Thread

Yeah, I know it's the 2020-2021 season but the fewer mentions of 2020 the better :)

  • The Raps lost their season opener.  It's the first time that we've been below .500 since 2014.  That's a pretty sweet run!

James Harden on the block, being a primadonna, Raps (and Celtics, along with Nets and 76ers of course) rumoured to be looking into trades.

No thank you.  Send him to the Nets to reconnect with KD.

Hi, current resident of Sports Hell here!  I was supposed to watch a game last night.  But James “Titties Over Titles” Harden had other plans.  Can’t believe they only fined him half a honeybun.  It’s the 2nd time he broke COVID protocol.  Just really disappointing how this is playing out.

  • Russell Westbrook is a Wizard, I might actually watch Pro hoops this year!!!!

I was so excited to see what they look like after all this time away and it was just this immediate wet fart of a game. They couldn't even keep it interesting for the first part of the first quarter. No Klay, no Draymond, no preseason, and a bunch of new faces who don't know how to play with each other or get the most out of Steph. It's going to be a rocky start to the season, especially if Wiggins plays like that.

Wiseman has kept it up today so far! Very happy about that - if he can consistently hit 3s, he's going to be an All-Star before long

    Bucks stomp Warriors.
Nets stomp C's for Nash's first coaching win. Was Brown wearing diabetic socks?
Lakers with a big lead over the Mavericks. The uniforms make me feel like its the Minneapolis Lakers and Celtics.
  • I was real pleasantly surprised to see the Spurs handle the Grizzlies on Wednesday.  Still kind of feels like the team is a couple years into a rebuild without a real plan yet, but after an offseason in which they didn't make many moves, the team seems better just for getting Belinelli and Forbes out of the lineup and letting Murray, Keldon, and Lonnie carry more of the load.  Still not expecting too much from the team but at least they'll be fun to watch for player development this year!

wasn't that Nash's second coach win? or was he not coaching that first game? never know nowadays with Covid.

Totally forgot today wasn't the opening of the season.

Congratulations @Noel, saw the half time score for Dal and LAC, (77-27).  I'll guess the final score was 129-73.  Is that too much credit for the Clips?

This is either going to be a total train wreck or they're going to decimate the league. Should be exciting

I’m still processing this. Lots of new guys and lots of picks I need to read the details on....

No hard feelings on Harden, honestly. If he wins one with KD then I’ll be happy for him. Certainly going to be watching more Nets games now to see Harden and Durant together on the same team again. Scary.

By Summer 2022 Kyrie will be elsewhere.

Wow, Houston sure cleaned up. The way they're currently constructed, they're going to be just as competitive with Oladpido as they were with Harden. Plus they'll have a billion dollars in cap space after this year if Olapido leaves. Plus oodles of first-round picks from a team that's going to implode by March. I'm going to assume the pick switches are Houston's choice, which is also amazing.

Not bad for a team that was going nowhere.

Curry has been playing out of his mind the last 10 games! has been so much fun to watch. i just came across this wild stat..

'If Steph Curry went 0/500 on 3 pointers and then retired, he'd have a higher 3-point percentage than Ray Allen.'

Dude is insane but he has been for a long time. I've got whiplash from the Steph takes bouncing between "top 5 ever" when he goes on a run like this back to "actually dame is the new best pg in the league" whenever he hits a buzzer beater.

It's too bad the performance he's had this season has been for a team scraping to make the playoffs

other stat that's mind blowing is 'Most Games with 10 3-PT FG or more All-Time':

    Steph Curry 21
    Klay Thompson 5
    James Harden 3
    Damien Lillard 3
    JR Smith 3
    Zach Lavine 2

this Play'In' format is pretty silly, but whatever. GSW has been playing hot! ended the season going 6-0 on the homestand and beating the top 2 teams in the West on back to back nights. now it's time to play the Disneyland Champ Lakers. Let's go!!
