A very domestic episode. ;-) We got to see the love quadrangle in Alexandria play out and Michonne let the people under her care spread their wings. Across the way, we saw the home life of the Whisperers (where most every scene looks like a metal album cover). Seeing the Whisperers' camp was quite interesting, IMO making up for the lack of action in the episode. Will anyone quickly forget the scene where they start making a Whisperer mask? The show keeps taking darker (or perhaps just more logical) turns than the comics, and now the Whisperers know Hilltop folks can just as easily use the dead against their enemies too.
So are we meant to think that DAryl and Connie lured that mini herd into their camp as a distraction?
Yes, while wearing dead masks they either made or got off whisperers they killed. I liked the challenge to Alpha scene, pretty nasty and new. Whisperers are still creepy and Beta is a badass. Cant wait for the Darryl vs Beta fight!
It’s really disappointing that the show has finally found some footing.
It all started with the season 6 cliffhanger.
if they just had the season 6 finale show the deaths and season 7 be all out war then move to this plot line in season 8 I think the guys still cover the show.
lots of missteps and fucks up. Feels like whoever is running TWD is also in charge of the Star Wars universe. I know writing, directing, acting is all hard. But coming up with a compelling coherent story isn’t that hard..
I'm just annoyed that this show finally got it's shit together just as Aaron and Jim bailed. Anybody getting strong romeo and juliet vibes this episode?
I'm one of those still watching out of some stubborn desire to see it to the end, but I'm not really enjoying it. More power to the viewers still having a good time with it.
Given his comments and feelings when they bailed, I don't think Jim would want to be watching and working the show right now.
The Whisperers are just being done really well and as a result they are bringing a lot to the show. The plotting and pacing has improved, and in general they seemed to have cleaned up a lot of the issues that plagued the later Gimple years. It is a shame the guys don't cover it, I would be very interested in their takes on the change-over in show running and the soft reboot in general. Maybe a Bald Move TV full season review might be the best we get.
Or Aaron could see about appearing on a different TWD podcast each week, or rotate among a few that have guests, such as Talking Dead 'Cast and Sistah Speak TWD. I'm sure he would have some good jokes about the Whisperers looking like an itinerant Metal band, Henry, etc.
