The actor in Caleb's flashback was Enrico Colantoni - he's been in a lot of stuff, but notably he had a recurring role in Person of Interest, so I'm guessing Nolan/Joy cast him for something meaty.
This may have been posted online somewhere, even here, but it just clicked with me last night about the spelling of Incite. The spelling insight means to have the power to see deeper into a situation. And that is what Robohobo is doing. However, the company spelling is Incite which, by definition, means to stir up. Clever word play with the name that probably took me too long to realize
I think it's both fair and unfair to compare Genre to Nostalgia. Genre is a party drug that changes the lighting and music in your world while manipulating your emotions to fit the scene. Nostalgia is a serious drug that lets you relive moments of your life when you can't remember. We saw an extra trippy version of that in Watchmen since it was someone reliving moments from someone else's life.
I say it can be slightly fair to compare since they are both showing the effects on a person going through a drug trip. Moreso unfair though because they are COMPLETELY different experiences and are being shown to mean completely different things. Obviously if you want to compare the two, it's not even a contest. That Watchmen episode was a master class. Whereas I enjoyed the scenes in Westworld, it was slightly rote. I couldn't have rolled my eyes harder at "Ride of the Valkyries." Cliché as hell. But that's kind of the point. It's a designer party drug for rich douchebags who would get off on that stuff.
Maybe this was bad design but when Dolores stood in front of Caleb and was clearly shot through, did that bullet miss him? Did it get slowed down enough to bounce off of him? Right at the end of that scene when he turns to leave, for a split second, it almost looks like there is something on his back like somehow the bullet went through him too. But it cuts just as it hits the screen and maybe it's a buckle or something on his outfit.
Could also just be a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I guess it missed him moment.
I have so many problems with this show. Jim has covered quite a few on the podcast so trying to find a way to sum it up. Basically, I hear @Jim and @A_Ron_Hubbard talk about second and third watches to better understand, or perhaps change their opinion, of the show. And that makes perfect sense. They are podcasters and need to speak about the show. But for me...an average viewer...the only reason I'd rewatch is because I was amazed the first time. In a good way. I've never said, 'Wow that kind of sucked. Let's see it again!"
If rewatches is what it takes to like the show I get why viewership continues to drop. The first season had problems but it had even greater promise. To be blunt, season 2 shit the bed. Season 3 is just dumb and lazy. And yes I will finish the season because like a car wreck I can't look away. But I don't care how good the trailer looks for season 4 I will most definitely not be back.
One last thought - if a person can be tested and told at 20 years old that at 45 years old they will get an incurable disease (hello genetic testing) should this person be forced to know this, and how will this change them? The storyline is not really a unique concept.

My way-out-there theory is that Caleb could be .... Serac's brother - after whatever editing process Serac is trying with people I realize there are like a million things wrong with this idea which is why it is a way-out-there theory and not super legitimate. Caleb's age, his mother, his life path was set to suicide, etc are all against it. And though I like the show I don't usually rewatch episodes so I could be forgetting some detail that totally negates this. But Liam seemed to think Caleb was someone important. Who knows with this show? Maybe Caleb is like the 10th reboot of the brother and he started with the name Moses, went to Aaron, then all down the list of names from Exodus. Caleb is one of two characters from Exodus that made it to the promised land if I remember correctly. The Serac brothers seem to like sequential biblical names for things. (Rehoboam).
I have been liking this season but this last episode has been my least favorite so far. Not that it is bad. Just it was one of the times style took precedence over the story-telling a bit too much for me. But I like the ideas this show throws out there and it definitely makes you think.

Yes, I noticed Keith Mars as well!
The first thing I still think of whenever I see him is Just Shoot Me ... "Must See TV" had a big impact on my formative years!
After awhile I just wanted this episode to be over. Genre? Don’t quote a better work if it’s just gonna make your own look feeble unless ironically and Westworld sucks at irony. If you can’t beat a sky full of Hueys, real ones, don’t bother. Also, why were Frenchy’s flunkies still on the clock when everyone else was getting all the purgey? And, “oh boy as soon as I get away from this place where I am completely at your mercy I am so totally going to bring you down it’s not like you’re gonna kill me ha ha.”
Thought the same thing. It was an interesting idea executed poorly IMO. They could have done more than just an Instagram filter. Think if it had completely changed Caleb's perception and he was actually in a Noir film, or whichever Genre he was currently experiencing. I realize that is a bit ironic considering this show is based upon the concept of immersive theme park worlds, but the drug could have done that just to him with the car chase sequence as the backdrop and the viewer jumps between the "Real" world and his Genres seamlessly. Overall a little disappointed with season 3 thus far.
Perhaps this has been covered on the podcast already, but I have no idea the point they were making with Dolores taking some bullets for Caleb (nor who the shooters were, for that matter). It looked as if Dolores was checking out a hole in her own clothing, like a bullet had gone through her jacket but missed her or something? Or was this a nod to that scene in Pulp Fiction?
I think Jim really succinctly explained my problem with this season which is that if you do not have enough time to tell the story you want, than you have to change your story. The reason the first season worked was that it had a bunch of very cool ideas that were conveyed by characters I really loved and whose wellbeing I cared about in Dolores and Maeve. Now the show seems to be in some sort of mad rush (lots of GOT S7 & S8 vibes) and feels like a sci-fi concept soup. An interesting sci-fi concept is only a framework for a television season. The exploration of those concepts are fulfilled by characters whose journeys the audience cares about, and this is the part I feel like is really missing from this season, even more so than Season 2.

I definitely thought it went through her, then through him. I'm calling him host Caleb from now on
What if like, this ENTIRE ROBOT REBELLION, is just corporate espionage on the bequest of Ford and he's just riding around inside Bernard's head watching his enemies world collapse around them?
I have an idea. You guys, or a listener, asked why would Robohobo need more guest data. What if it isn't the guest data Serac needs. What if, as you mentioned, he has run simulations? Perhaps he sees that he will eventually lose control of Rehoboam. Maybe he needs the host data to work on scenarios to avoid this future. We have a few hosts who seem to have developed consciousness. Two are loose in the world and one is in a simulation. I think he is looking for what the difference is between the aware host and the rest. He needs the info on the ones sent the Valley Beyond to discern the differences and make changes before he loses control.
Also, at this point, I am pretty sure Caleb has been "re-educated" by Serac. Maybe he is a test case sent out to see if it can be done because Serac wants his brother to be with him.......maybe he knows he needs him to avoid losing control as well.
By the way @A_Ron_Hubbard that was me who had the story about the movie about the Chinese matriarch who has cancer and her family doesn't tell her. The movie is called The Farewell and it is EXCELLENT. Highly recommend it.
