No kidding. There are shows that are made to be binged then there are shows like The Expanse that really benefit from a week to week release. Even if they went to 2 episodes a week like HBO MAX did with Raised by Wolves that'd be a hell of a lot better than a full drop in 1 day.
I hoped they learned that lesson from the boys which I think was very successful with a weekly shedule.
They seemed to get a ton of flack for it, which is irritating. I know everyone has their preferences of how to view this stuff. But, I definitely prefer the week-to-week.
I'd feel very good about the chances of Amazon making 9 seasons of this if they renew for season 7. It would be a shame if the show never gets to do the books 7-9 arc.
I'd love to see what internal metrics they used to decide on this release schedule. Clearly, they loved what they saw from The Boys S2, even including the fanboy/girl revolt/review bombing. I do wish they'd just start in mid-January. We have screeners, I'm not even bitching about having to work through Christmas, I just think there's not a lot of eyeballs around that time of year. Maybe it'll pay off since there's not much else going on other than Hallmark and Netflix shitting out christmas rom-coms as fast as you can watch em.
That trailer is pure fire!! I can’t friggin’ wait!!! Also, a big fan of the slow rollout. In theory, that should help build the ‘water cooler talk’ that this show has been missing.
Did anything ever come out of that Cas Anvar situation?
I guess we'll find out Thursday.
Well he's clearly in this season since it wrapped before any of the accusations came out. But it definitely looks like the tried to minimize him in the trailer, one brief shot and no lines.
I am beyond excited that they are making the decision of releasing an episode a week after the 1st drop of 3 episodes. Like A. Ron mentioned it's a little bummer they are releasing it just before Christmas but I'll deal with that given their release schedule.

For bookreaders that trailer was a real treat. I could feel my brain clicking like oh, that's that scene, here's a diversion, that character won't be part of the series. Great stuff.
I could watch the new trailer 100 times and never get sick of it. The Expanse truly is high quality TV and I hope it gets the recognition it deserves. I don't think it's a big Emmy winning kind of show but the quality in the technical side should really get more accolades than it does.
I'm not a book reader but I feel like this season feels a lot more GOT in the idea of the main cast going their own directions to take care of their own business. Not saying other seasons haven't had multiple stories going on concurrently but this season seems even more so heading that direction.

The first three episodes of season 5 of The Expanse will land on Amazon on Dec. 16. Episodes will then be released every Wednesday, with the season wrapping up on February 3, 2021.
So I've been rewatching the seasons and finally hit season 3 where I can start listening to the guys podcasts and I swear this is the only podcast where I wish the intro and outro music lasted longer.
I absolutely love that the guys use the EDM/Dubstep music coming off Eros that Diogo was blasting in season 1.
I'm bummed I only have a few podcasts to listen to for seasons 1 and 2 but I definitely get why they didn't podcast on it. It was severely underwatched during those first couple seasons. Glad I had a buddy that recommended it to me and I jumped in right from the get go.
Here is the song on youtube....
And here is a 1 hour version for anybody that really likes it...
I finally watched season 3 episode 1 last night and couldn't wait to check out the podcast. The guys were awesome as always, and this is definitely one show where I need their insight. But...I was listening while getting ready for work this morning and thought, "this intro song is too much." The very opposite of you. But no worries. I can zip past or listen later. It was a great podcast either way.
@Teresa from Concord that is quite funny. I've recently dabbled in EDM and Dubstep genre of music which it very much fits in so that's where my liking of it comes from.
Also Jim is absolutely not wrong when he says check out the official podcast The Churn. They have either one of or both the writers of the novels on every week along with another guest star from the show and it's a great listen. Audio quality isn't always there because the authors and guest stars typically aren't in studio but some of the stories they share from being on set are awesome.
Re-reading Nemesis Games before the season drops and it really holds up - still my favorite novel in the series so far. The back half of the series in general actually might be even stronger than the set up.
Love that poster although there is sort of a spoiler on there...
