Last Tango in Halifax - Christmas special and series 5: Enjoyable British comedy, good mix of heartwarming and more biting humor. Special mention: Tony Gardner's amazing performance
The Split series 2 - Disappointing. Characters doing whatever the plot requires without good motivation.
Aside: I hope the UK does not consume alcohol in real life like it does in TV shows...
Halfway through flight attendant and now worried about the dumbness. I generally agree with @Chinaski and @Dee’s take on shows.
I binged the first season of Counterpoint and like @TangoNevada don’t get why this show didn’t get more attention and love. I suspect it’s a case of too much shit available right now. Often I can’t remember what I’m watching, where I left off, what I heard about I want to check out, which streaming service it’s on...
I’m not a bungee but I’m currently watching - A Discovery if Witches S2 on Sundance Now, light supernatural with romance and a lot of historical elements. The Expanse S5 on Amazon Prime - hard sci fi with amazing story. Vikings last season 6?I think? On amazon prime. I kinda like the focus on all the brothers rather than larger than life characters like Ragnar or Lagertha. And I just started Snowpiercer S1 on hbo now. I tried watching when it came out and found it convoluted but my standards are lower now with the pandemic lol.
I stopped watching TV all together when the pandemic took hold. I don’t know maybe it was all irrelevant at that point or moment. But now I need escapism so it’s all about fantasy, sci fi and historical fiction.
Just started Lupin on Netflix, really fun new French heist show. Would definitely recommend folks check it out, looking forward to digging into more episodes this weekend.
Also I finished two new PBS Masterpiece shows that I recommend:
"All Creatures Great and Small" which is the most charming and relaxing show I've watched in a long time. With lots of cute animals!
And "Miss Scarlet and the Duke" is an entertaining pulpy detective show set in Victorian London. Great chemistry between the two leads.
You are a genius! I checked out the first episode and immediately fell in love with the characters, setting, etc. such a lovely story to watch in a nutty time. My new Downton Abby! Dove right into episode 2.

i've heard really good things about this and been meaning to check it out. is it French audio with subs?
I Binged the Flight Attendant. That was fun. I also binged Cobra Kai (IDK Why) it's not like it's great, but once you start you want to see what's next and each episode is so short it's not a major commitment. But by far my favorite Re-Binge was watching Counterpart. What a totally underrated show. Just seeing how jacked up J.K. Simmons got for that show at his age was impressive enough. I would have loved to see another season or 2, but I think 2 seasons was actually perfect.
I looked up Counterpart (I had not heard of it previously) and it jumped to the top of my stuff to watch list. It's included in Prime so I'll be checking it out soon. Thanks!

Yes French with subs. I haven't checked if it has an English dubbed version like Dark did, but only psychos watch that way cough ** ARon ** cough

The Walking Dead - My 17 year old son approached me over the weekend. "Dad, can we watch TWD, from the beginning?" My son never has watched the show. He was too scared to and now, mustered the courage to want to watch with Dear 'ol Dad. Sitting in my chair, I put down the Compendium #1 (I'm in the prison area of the story, AFTER meeting the Gov. the first time) and smiled. NOTE: I am up to date with the show, and let me tell you: I totally forgot how awesome the show was! Earlier season story telling was so much better than the current. Anyway, we cruised through season 1 and through episode 5 of Season 2 in two sittings. It's so fun to watch with someone who doesn't know much at all about it. I have more fun watching his reactions.
The Expanse - Just finished season 1. LOVE IT! I wish Jim and A.Ron would cast the beginning seasons. Need to catch up before listening.
so i thought i watched most of Community (S1-3) when it aired, and i stopped watching during in S4 cause it got really bad. i decided to revisit, and i can't believe how many early eps i missed. some of those eps were such gold! for example, the chicken finger episode.. so good!
Watched the first two episodes of Miss Scarlet and the Duke but so far it's too...cold? Bloodless? for me. At least so far it's not committing the cardinal sin of such shows, making the men unbelievably stupid to make the women seem smarter (see Agent Carter s2).

Yea it was more of a background watch for me, some fun moments and decent acting but the main plot wasn't especially interesting and the writing could have been better. I did like that Eliza was a flawed character, not just a super genius, and like you said they didn't dumb down William for story reasons.
Finished the Flight Attendant and it took a serious downward turn after episode 3. It became a mess of uninteresting running down hallways, chugging vodka, getting access to and searching FBI crime scenes, and that weird bug-eyed look she has when she realizes"I am dumb and don't get it but now I kind of get it."
I do not recommend and if there is a second season count me out.
After watching pretty much nothing but sitcoms and Bluey in 2020, I am finally creeping back into “normal” television and catching up on shows I just wasn’t feeling up to watching last year.
Fargo S4 was good but not up to the level of S1 and 2 (still better than S3). There were so many good pieces and good characters but it just didn’t seem to come together. That Ben Whishaw, though - is he ever not great?
The Bay S2 was highly watchable but fairly forgettable. Full of UK actors who are always reliably excellent (though not enough Stephen Tompkinson), and an intriguing mystery, but nothing really lingered.
Dead To Me S2 was great - not as good as S1, which came out of nowhere and was incredible, but still really fun and shocking and “just one more episode” watchable. Linda Cardellini and James Marsden are both great but Christina Applegate is a powerhouse in this. The way she can do rage, stress and grief at the same time is really something. And of course it ended on a cliffhanger so now I’m hanging out for S3.
I did finally finish The Flight Attendant. Fun stuff and surprisingly emotional at times. Plus, they did the whole "here's an obvious twist so that you don't see the other twists coming", which is nice. I might rewatch a certain character's early scenes to see if they hinted at one of the big reveals. Still, as I was watching the latter half of the show, I did get the feeling that the story in no way needed 8 episodes. I don't feel like a miniseries should make me wonder "Should this have been a two hour movie?" as I'm watching it. I didn't dislike it as much as some have, but I don't have any interest in a second season.
Almost done with Harlots. I do agree with @Michelle, season three has its issues, but it's still really entertaining. I'm a bit surprised A.Ron had it on his shortlist for Most Disappointing at the Baldies that year. I don't know, maybe the finale is really bad. Hard to imagine it reaching Game of Thrones level or even Penny Dreadful's, to name another Cecily and A.Ron venture that ended on a letdown.
Watched the two seasons of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Hadn't seen them before. Thought it was pretty well done except for the choice of having John Connor be an annoying-to-the-audience teenager. Still worth watching.
While I was watching it was clear they lacked the budget to really run with the concept. These days we have streaming services outbidding each other to make super expensive shows, so one of them should make ~3 seasons of Terminator: The John Connor Chronicles where John, a not-annoying young man has to try to prevent Judgement Day and survive assassination attempts aided by a shifting cast of contemporary folks and future soldiers/turned machines.
I somehow binged the entirety of Orphan Black in January. It's far from a perfect show, but pretty consistently entertaining and the characters are so charming, mostly thanks to Tatiana Maslany's brilliant performances (I may have stuck with the show longer just based on her acting alone!). It's a little convoluted but I can live with it. The science on the show mostly makes sense (with my high school biology vocabulary), save for the premise of human cloning. Anyway, don't know how many Bald Move fans have seen the show before, but I've had good fun with it.
I am binging Bridgerton and for the life of me I don’t know why. I love Downton Abbey and this is no way the same. All that’s missing is a Fabio-type dressed as a pirate. Yet I watch. I have convinced myself this would never have occurred if I wasn’t laid off last week.
Started watching Warrior and I was not prepared for how similar this is to Banshee. I knew it was the same show runner but the way the show looks, the tone, the types of characters, basically everything identifiable about Banshee is the same. So far it's really good and I wish there was more DGAF intentionally trashy TV like this. It's like a CW show without any restrictions on it.

I binged Orphan Black between S3 and S4 coming out and I was busting for S4 but it was all over the place so I lost interest and never watched the final season. How was S5? Tatiana Maslany was so incredibly good in it - she should be a much bigger star than she is.

I can't imagine watching the show week to week - it'd be a mess to follow. Season 5 was okay? There was some really weird and disposable storylines in the first half, but the emotional payoff in the final 5 episodes were good. They wrapped things up pretty nicely, even though the season started slow and a little repetitive.
I keep forgetting during the show that Maslany is in virtually every scene of the series. Apparently she will be playing She-Hulk? I know nothing about the comic book character but she's going to be one of those actors whose projects I'll check out just for her presence

It's funny, this was exactly the Orphan Black experience on my house. I'm also interested in whether they rebounded for season 5.
Right now my wife and I are tearing our way through the MCU movies (minus the ones that Disney+ doesn't have) in timeline chronological order (except that we're holding off on Captain Marvel because we saw it not too long ago). It's been a whole lot of fun and I really think the movies play better in close proximity to each other. It all gets so convoluted and spread out that not having like a year between movies makes it all so much easier to follow. Mostly the first Avengers movie was so much better for it.

Do others agree this was really a Hulk movie? I never see/hear that sentiment expressed but watching it makes it pretty clear IMO. Not only a Hulk movie, of course, but he's arguably the pivotal character.

It's an interesting notion. My gut reaction is to say that it's kind of a Hulk/Cap/Iron Man flick. Hulk definitely had a whole lot of great usage and if I had to pick just one I might lean that way, but I think at least those two are well enough represented to make me not necessarily agree. That said, he was the most interesting Avenger in the movie (Loki has a good argument for most interesting overall), and the most fun one by a lot. I wish I had this idea to think about when we watched it because I could easily be taking stuff for granted (we've watched, I think it's 10 movies in like a week so there is a little blur to factor). I think "pivotal" has a good argument because so much of the plot mechanics are on him. My gut instinct is to cosign that one. I'm going to meditate on this. further. Really interesting to think about.
With the other characters, they get their time to shine or be evil, but IMO Hulk's danger is touched on repeatedly, from the meeting in the shack with Black Widow, the special containment module, Loki's plan, Hulk and the Black Widow being under the wreckage together, in dialogue with Stark, etc. The fact that at any moment he could "get angry" is ever present in the film in a way the nature of other characters isn't.

First world problems.
(For some reason I'm assuming the one you watched is more recent.)

I was reading about the old series and apparently before the show the was a 1975 movie staring Anthony Hopkins as Siegfried!
