Damn Mookie with the game winning catch! Dodgers-Padres has been a fun series from the bits I've caught.
I caught the end of both games, they were great.
  • Oooof, the Yankees. Just got swept by the Rays. Watching this team is like torture. A lot of talent, but somehow it doesn't translate well to the field.

"Those 0-6 A’s beat Houston in extra innings for their first win, then lost the next day, so the snark-drenched knee-jerkery was holding fine."

they actually beat LA in extra innings for their first win. get your facts straight Ray Ratto! haha

  • A question that I asked (years ago) in the forums that may warrant a 2nd consideration...

Should Yadier Molina be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame?

On the one hand, he’s inarguably one of the greatest defensive players at (arguably) the most important position in the history of the game.

On the other hand, he’s just a slightly below average offensive player relative to all position players. He’s a slightly above average offensive player relative to others at his position: catchers.

  • I think he gets in.

in addition to that, Michael Urban's Aces: The Last Season on the Mound with the Oakland A's Big Three is a good read too.

I'm actually more of a visual or audio person.  What's this one about?

    Nope!

The book is much better, and 1000 times more in depth. It doesn't ignore the big 3 pitching they had, nor Miggys MVP.

it's an depth look at 3 of the best pitchers at the time (Hudson, Zito & Mulder) that were all on the A's (the big 3). you get to know their personalities better, what drove them, and their thoughts on how the organization handled personnel and money management at the time. i enjoyed it.

I haven't read that, I do remember Mulder coming to the Cards and pitching a 10 inning complete game though.  How times have changed.

I also have Canseco's first book, now that's entertainment.

I'm disappointed he didn't mention making contact with aliens in that book.  Nope, just boring stuff how everyone in the world will be on steroids in 10 years (wasn't that 15 years ago?, how ballplayers cheat on their wives and Frank Thomas driving him around at 202 mph.

Yup, should have been an infield fly.

You're watching the Cards-Phillies game, right?
