My nieces and I spent the day at Pike Place Market & the Seattle waterfront… lots of looking around, shopping, & we had a *great* lunch. And…@Chinaski…I got my Beecher’s on. Chillin at the hotel now, it’s 84* & we’re wiped out. Time to kick back for the night - more exploring tomorrow!
Back home after a great road trip. Picked up our dog from my Dad’s and our house looks good and secure. On the back porch listening to rolling thunder.
Just visited my great-grandmother’s gravesite in Portland for the first time. Not so exciting for my nieces, but important to me for a few different reasons.
Back to exploring the city & having fun after this.
Left Portland around 11:00, then spent the better part of the afternoon exploring the Columbia River Gorge area & all of the waterfalls, including Multnomah Falls. Had some *amazing* pork belly & pineapple tacos (with arugula & curled scallion, drizzled with cilantro-lime crema). Then went into Hood River (if you know me well enough, then you know. ) We met up with my cousin at the cemetery, where I placed flowers for her mother & my great grandfather. I then drove my nieces around our family’s land & showed them the acres upon acres of orchards, the family’s packing plant, and the church & school that my 2x great grandfather helped to build in the late 1870s. Back at our B&B now, relaxing before heading home tomorrow. It’s been such an amazing week with my nieces. Just everything wonderful that it could have been.
Oh! And we hiked up to the footbridge that passes in front of Multnomah Falls. I’ve been there several times and always wondered what it would be like to be up on that bridge. It was just sooooo beautiful. (Not my pic - I only took video and pics of my nieces there.)
Just bragging now, I’m just happy about the way this piece came out. My goal is to make a homey pot like Winnie The Phooh. This is me getting close. I like to think of this one like a pot of gold bowl. Doing well on my wood turning groups. Well sorry but I had too.figured maple wood.
My last “road trip” sticker came in the mail and I got to nerd out with my stickers out today. It started with our first family road trip when we got a hard shell cargo carrier. We’re doing a mini road trip this weekend, so I can’t wait to roll down the highway in full Battle Cat mode again with our extended sticker story!
Spent the day doing HR/payroll work to integrate us into the company that bought us (starting with a zoom call at 10:00, right when lunch was starting! but anyway…). Super busy day & I didn’t have much time to stop & take a breath, committed to working this weekend, etc… you know, one of those days. Then I received an email that they accepted my counter when we were talking salary on Wednesday. Super happy now!! As of Monday I’ll be making my highest salary ever. Feeling pretty accomplished for starting with our existing company as a $12/hr temp.

the look on my daughters face when i surprised her with 2 small scoops of fresh banana Marianne's Ice Cream, topped with a little nutella on one scoop and a little peanut butter on the other. she was so surprised, but took the time to take 3 bites in front of me to assess. felt like i was being judged by Tom Colicchio. in the end i got a kiss on the cheek and a 'thank you daddy' which of course is why 'What's Making Your Day?'

That’s my experience walking downtown of major cities and being able to see or not see in front of me as my scientific measure…
I just got the results from my scientific study! Years and years of work, finally culminated.
(may not make sense to people who don't/didn't watch Psych)
